Some Great Tips to Protect Home During Holidays by Professional Locksmiths
You’re going on a holiday and have to say goodbye to your apartment for the time being. Great! But nothing can ruin a vacation like worrying about your residence the whole time, which is where this guide from an experienced Residential Locksmith DMV 911 comes in handy. We have put together 6 tips to protect home during holidays by professional locksmiths. As the best professional locksmith, it’s safe to say that we know a thing or two about house security.

6 Tips To Keep Your House Secure While You’re On Vacation

2) Ask a Friend or Neighbor to Keep an Eye on Your Residence

Although it isn’t as commonplace these days, there are many benefits to befriending your neighbors. For one, you can ask them to keep a watchful eye on your house while you’re away and at the very least let them know that nobody will be there for a while.

1) Lock Up

Of course, the most important tip to protect your apartment is to double-check that every access point is closed and locked up. That includes downstairs and upstairs doors and windows. Residential Locksmith companies like DMV 911 provides a range of high-quality and affordable locks and more to give your residence the protection it needs. You can also amp up security by installing a security alarm system for your front door.

3) Use Your Appliances to Make it Look Like Your Home

Although it might cost you a little more in electricity bills, having the lights or TV on is a powerful deterrent for any criminals thinking of robbing your place. You can ask a trusted neighbor to turn appliances such as lights, the television or radio on at certain times or you can even set some of these things on a timer. Any sign that there may, in fact, be someone inside will help keep burglars and intruders at bay.

4) Have a Friend or Neighbor Collect Your Mail

Piles of mail stacking up is a clear sign that no ones there. Having a friend or neighbor collect your mail can prevent this from happening. As an added bonus, your mail will also be secure and not get lost or weather damaged.

5) Have a Neighbor Park on Your Driveway

If you are friendly enough with a neighbour, they may be willing to park their car in your driveway every once in a while. This is another tactic to make it look like there are people living in the house.

6) Have Regular Check-Ups

Having someone you trust to stop by your apartment can really put your mind at ease. By giving a trusted friend or family member a spare key, you can request them to drop by to water your plants or just to double-check that you turned off the gas or didn’t leave your back door unlocked.

I would like to make my home really secure. I just got a new job and I will need to travel a lot. Thanks for explaining that it would be smart for me to ask my neighbors to keep an eye on my home while I am traveling. It might be smart for me to look into hiring a locksmith who can put in stronger deadbolt locks on my doors.
